Our Team

We’re always happy to help.

Our team is made up of licensed Doctors of Veterinary Medicine, Registered Veterinary Technicians, Park Rangers, Groomers, and more.

The Neighbourhood Pet Clinic team is comprised of a variety of roles, all tied together by our duty as animal health advocates.

We believe in treating every animal as an individual, with the same respect, kindness, and caring that we extend to each other. We acknowledge that our clients share our community, and consider them our “neighbours”. The animals that share our neighbours’ lives are more than just pets, they are truly “furry family members”. Our clinics are centred around the concepts of comfort and convenience and our efforts are guided by these principles.

If you’d like to arrange a time to meet us, or are interested in applying to become a member of the Neighbourhood Pet Clinic team, please send us a message and we’d be happy to provide more information.

Our Veterinarians

Our team of veterinarians are at the heart of the care we provide. With diverse backgrounds and experiences, this team of doctors brings a wide range of professional and personal expertise to each case. From radiology to emergency medicine, dentistry, surgery, feline-centric care, and more, our veterinarians foster an environment of collaboration, giving each family access to a wider range of care options for their furry family member.

A veterinarian is an individual who successfully trained at a university to become a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM). In order to practice in Ontario, these individuals must meet the requirements of the College of Veterinarians of Ontario to obtain and maintain their license. This qualifies them to perform examinations, surgery, dentistry, vaccinations, to use specialized diagnostic techniques, and to give advice on nutrition, behavior, and more.

In our team, our veterinarians take on many unique roles within this scope, including remote and part-time positions. In all cases, they are passionate about animal health as well as working with people to find solutions to their furry family member’s needs. We are proud of the experience that our talented veterinarians bring to our team.

Our Veterinary Technicians

Veterinary technicians use their medical knowledge and clinical expertise to provide a very wide range of nursing care to their patients under the advice of a veterinarian. In Ontario, those who complete their studies at an accredited college, pass a licensing exam and do ongoing annual certifications are considered to be Registered Veterinary Technicians (or RVTs).

Our team couldn’t operate without the efforts of our five full-time and several part-time technicians. Their list of duties would be almost too long to list – from phlebotomist to anesthetists, from X-ray technologist to dental hygienist, and beyond. They are extensively trained in diagnostic laboratory testing, nutrition management, disease prevention, surgical assistance, as well as routine, intensive, and emergency care of animals.

We are proud of the expertise that our several full-time veterinary technicians bring at both Neighbourhood Pet Clinic locations, as well as that of our technician at our newly acquired Blue Cross Animal Hospital. We also have a team of veterinary technicians who provide additional support and availability in both full-time and part-time roles between clinics.

Our Veterinary Assistants

The individuals in these roles provide flexible, supportive care to the medical team. Their expertise when it comes to patient care, treatments and diagnostics, medical prep and terminology, and the flow of the clinic helps every visit go a little more smoothly.

The veterinary assistants at Neighbourhood Pet Clinic have varied backgrounds: some started as veterinary assistants, some are working in a VA role while in school to become veterinary technicians, and one even has a background in human medical radiation technology before transferring to the world of vet med! We are incredibly proud of their achievements and all the special skills they bring to our team.

Our Park Rangers

We call this position a “Park Ranger” because we recognize that “reception” does not fully encompass all the roles that these valuable team members play. For more insight into the unique name of this role, you’ll have to visit one of our clinics!

Our Park Rangers all come from different professional backgrounds. Some started in our clinics as co-op students, others have education in veterinary office administration, and others come from transferable customer service roles. While our Park Rangers specialize in customer service, they also assist in patient care and housekeeping duties. They play a key supportive role in ensuring that the clinics function smoothly and that all of our neighbours and their furry family members have a comfortable and convenient experience.

We have several full-time Park Rangers per location, with a team of part-time individuals who also provide support between both clinics.

Our Groomer

Our Westmount groomer has been with us since 2012 and, although she is not currently accepting new clients, she has helped countless furry family members over the years. Proper grooming is an important part of overall care and we are grateful for the complementary expertise that she brings to our team. Plus, every bubble bath, blowout, and trim has helped the dogs and cats in her care look as good as they feel!

Delivery

The many services our delivery driver provides are key parts of what sets us our clinics apart! When we first expanded to include a van, the team initially shared the duties. It wasn’t long before we realized we needed a full-time delivery specialist. Our dedicated delivery driver joined our team in early 2019 and has since perfected the role!

He will be the friendly face to pick you and/or your furry family member up for an appointment (and will navigate London traffic, so you don’t have to!) He can also ensure your products and prescriptions are delivered to your door for free or can even set you up for our Product Subscription Service, where your preferred items are regularly ordered and delivered according to a chosen schedule.

When COVID-19 allows our at-home services to resume, our delivery driver will also accompany and assist our veterinary technicians with at-home nail trims, anal gland expressions, and more. He truly is a jack of all trades, and we are happy to have him as part of our team!

Support Staff

We are fortunate to have many individuals working behind-the-scenes. You may not even notice our team of support staff, but their efforts ensure that every experience with our clinics goes as smoothly as possible.

The individuals in this group have varied specialized responsibilities, such as directing business operations, conducting marketing efforts, writing and mailing birthday cards, managing automatic transactions, conducting communications, cleaning the clinic and managing inventory.

They have varied backgrounds, but most either started in another role within the clinic before growing into their specialized department or are cross-trained and provide help in other areas as needed.

We are also proud to offer co-op experiences to high school students and are grateful for the help they provide. We have seen many co-op students apply as park rangers, or go on to become veterinary technicians and veterinarians. This is so rewarding and we hope to welcome them back as part of our team someday!
